![]() My key from 2017 broke and the rep responded with "Note that a regular renewal of annual maintenance for a TBC Intermediate license – which hasn't lapsed by 90 days or more – would only cost $804.75, versus the $1,841.50 quoted for this reinstatement". offer a fair price for the whole office and then let people have a code for all computers. seems like there should be an easier way, or for trimble to stop being penny pinchers. we have also had lots of trouble and wasted time with our network license. so maybe a small usb extension is an option there to reduce the wear on the dongle itself.Īll in all, i find all this frustrating and wish there was a simpler way. the second was just from pulling it in and out of the office computers. The first we broke from it getting squashed while closing computer case. to me it is outrageous, they just try to get some money out of you when ever they can. they tried to charge us an arm and a leg until my boss lost it on them and then we got charged 5$ for the dongle costs. We have broken two keys, and for us it was very frustrating trying to get replacements. I'm not saying to intentionally break it or anything but if it happens and they send you a replacement it would probably be the newer, smaller version. It was covered under warranty and the replacement they sent was the kind in the second picture. ![]() I lost my key around a year ago, I had the larger one. Just became more of a pain so I just dealt with the dongle sticking out. So I tried find a small hub to leave in my backpack and run a wire when I was out in the field. I also had that feeling of breaking the dongle. We switched one of our network license to a hardware license and was charged to do the switch. Has any of you guys had a similar experience? Let me show you my current dongle and the smaller dongle I wish to upgrade to. Personal license users can join up to 5 business projects with full business. I was also advised the only way to replace the dongle would be to buy all the modules from scratch to the new dongle. However my dealer advised me that the software is tied to that dongle and cannot be decoupled to be transferred to a different dongle. I looked to replace the USB dongle with smaller one so that I don't need to take it in and out every time. I became a little worried that I might either lose or snap my dongle taking it in and out of the bag. I use a USB dongle for TBC and recently I have been travelling to remote sites often which I use laptop on site. You would also either to have a current protection plan for your TBC license. Hopefully this is helpful to someone else, without having to get involved and wait for Trimble admin to respond. By the way, it took about 10+ min to actually receive it, it wasn't immediate. There would be some cost involved with this however it would be as much as repurchasing all the modules. Here was my workaround: used my Iphone instead to create account and request verification code, and that worked. There is no real option to switch from one dongle type to another, however you could upgrade from a USB license to a Network (software) license. ![]() If other members in the project do not have Business Premium, they will have Read-only access to any data created and stored in the Organizer or Property Set Service. Please bear in mind that the smaller dongles can still break and are probably easier to lose.
